Sarah Lukavsky – President
I am a senior majoring in zoology with a minor in environmental studies. I plan to attend graduate school to pursue a doctorate in evolutionary ecology after my time here at SIU. Here on campus, I am also the president of Zeta Theta Omega, the professional zoology fraternity, and Diversify STEM. I am also an active member in The Wildlife Society and Saluki Reefers. Academically, I am a SUPERB Scholar, McNair Scholar, and REACH grant recipient. I conduct research on pollination and phylogenetics in a plant ecology lab. In my free time, I love to volunteer with Green Earth, hike, read, and spend as much time as possible looking for birds. I am honored to be the president of Honors Assembly and look forward to an amazing year!
Katrina Stanley – VP of Communications
Hello! My name is Katrina and I am a junior majoring in English with a pre-professional writing specialization. I hope to work in the publishing industry after graduation. Aside from Honors Assembly, I am also involved in activities at the Wesley Foundation. I am excited for the semester and what's to come for Honors Assembly. I plan to do my best in serving as the Vice President of Communications this year.
Elisa (Elly) Lopez – VP of Social Media and Outreach
I am a third-year student pursuing a double major in Marketing and Supply Chain Management, complemented by a minor in Spanish. After completing my undergraduate at SIU in December 2024, I aspire to further my academic journey by earning a master's degree in marketing. During my time here in Carbondale, my goal is to make a positive impact on the Southern Illinois region, while also assisting incoming and current honors students in reaching their full potential. I am actively involved in various organizations, two of which include the Honors Program and Honors Assembly. I also serve as the Vice President of Events for the Business Leadership Council; additionally, I am a member of the American Marketing Association and the Latin/x Council. Collaborating with these amazing individuals in the Honors Assembly, I am excited to organize events and connect with all you honor students.
Natalie Eves – Treasurer
I am a freshman majoring in anthropology. I am part of the anthropology club. I also plan to become more involved with other clubs and organizations here on campus. I love to read, go hiking, and talk about history. I am so excited to be your honors treasurer. I can’t wait to see what events and achievements this year will bring us.
Anna Rodgers - VP of Event Planning and Promotion
I am a second year Social Work major with minors in Psychology and Nutrition. I have lived in Southern Illinois for the majority of my life. After graduating from SIU I hope to become a School Social Worker. In addition to the Honors Assembly, on-campus I am Outreach Coordinator for the Social Work Student Alliance. On-campus, I am an assistant Girl Scout Leader. In my free time, I like to crochet, sew, tap dance and volunteer within my community. I am looking forward to being more involved in the Honors Program and to gaining more skills and experiences.
Carmen Wilder – VP of Diversity and Inclusion
I am a senior from Belleville, Illinois majoring in psychology and minoring in environmental studies. Throughout my time at SIU, I have played clarinet in the Marching Salukis and have given campus tours as a Saluki Ambassador. I also work as a Campus Visit Representative in Undergraduate Admissions. In my free time, I love to hike, bike, crochet, and play pickleball (I am a self-proclaimed Pickle Pro!) I have really enjoyed serving the Southern Illinois community through the University Honors Program and Chancellor's Scholars Program. It is an honor to be an officer on the Honors Assembly and I am excited to "Learn. Lead. Serve." this year!
Brenda Sanders – Advisor
I am passionate about my work as a mentor with the University Honors Program and enjoy guiding my mentees towards higher achievements and enriching experiences at SIUC. I am a two-degree alum from SIUC―a B.S. in University Studies with minors in Workforce Education and Speech Communication and a M.S. in Workforce Education and Development, specializing in College Student Leadership. An Honors student, my awards included an Undergraduate Research/Creative Activity Award, a Graduate Fellowship Certificate of Achievement, a REACH and Undergraduate Assistantship Award, and a McNair Scholar. I am delighted to serve as the advisor of the Honors Assembly!
