The Honors Experience
Honors students are in the driving seat! You take charge over your education and form enduring relationships through our curricular and co-curricular offerings and in our designated Honors Living Learning Community. Honors students:
- Explore fundamental questions in small seminar style courses
- Propose and helped design new courses.
- Dig deep into a project or topic through theses and independent studies. Check out theses topics.
- Make a difference now rather than wait until they graduate. Check out how you can get involved on campus and in the community
Membership Benefits
UHP students in good standing are entitled to:
- Specially designed, small classes that substitute for Core Curriculum Courses or electives
- Access to the Honors Living Learning Communities located on West Campus
- Early registration for all classes
- Extended borrowing privileges from Morris Library
- Access to graduate level courses in some departments
- Invited gatherings with Distinguished Lecturers
- Access to Major Scholarship Advisement with support for competitive national scholarships
- Peer support
- Graduating with Honors (if all requirements are fulfilled)
- Access to Honors staff who take a personal interest in you and are there to assist you in any way possible in reaching your goals
- Develop lasting friendships with other outstanding Salukis who value education and take it seriously
Living Learning Community
The Living Learning Community builds a strong foundation for university life and is the start of life-long friendships. University Honors students live in Smith Hall on West Campus. The Honors LLC is a thriving community that celebrates the Honors ethos of learning across academic disciplines, valuing the richness of social life, and taking ownership over one's journey. You will live in a microcosm of the University along our beautiful campus lake with your peers from all disciplines, who will support and challenge you.
Eligibility: The University Honors Program Living Learning Community (LLC) is open to students in the University Honors Program. First-year Honors students who have not elected to reside in the LLC of their academic program or in an Academic LLC are strongly encouraged to live in the Honors LLC.
