I am currently a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Zoology with a Chemistry minor and a Cannabis Production Certificate. Since attending SIU, I have obtained a position in Dr. Garvey's lab as an undergraduate researcher. I work in an aquaculture facility where I maintain salt and freshwater systems with a variety of species, including shovelnose sturgeon, pallid, and corals. More specifically, my research focuses on implications for coral health and resilience while investigating Montipora digitata microbiome manipulation in response to flow rate. As for club activity, I am the president of the Saluki Coral Reefers, the secretary of the American Fisheries Society, and the vice president of service and outreach in the Honors Assembly. Service and outreach have always been priorities for me. Just this past summer, I volunteered over 130+ hours at Mermet Springs, a local dive shop here in Southern Illinois. Correspondingly, I am working towards the professional side of my scuba diving career. I am excited to bring communities of honor students together through service.
